Earlier today - BC Premier Christy Clark announced that she would push BC Liberal members' on the Special Committee to appoint an Auditor General to support a 2 yr extension to the current term of current BC Auditor-General John Doyle. In addition, Clark announced that her government would table legislation allowing for 1 - 8 year term as Auditor-General which would be non-renewable, like Quebec, Ontario and the Federal Government (Ottawa). But congrats to her government for responding to this situation but this should have been something that should have never been allowed to develop in the first place...
As I read the Auditor General Act and as also mentioned by Ind. Cariboo-North MLA Bob Simpson and Vancouver Sun political columnist Vaughn Palmer - the current Auditor-General Act would not allow for a 2 year extension as proposed and hence the Act would need to be amended prior to extending the term...
