Local Joint Comm meetings back on?

In a stunning move - the Cariboo Regional District Board has refused to endorse two recommendations coming from the Jan 14th meeting of the Central Cariboo Rural Caucus.  Those 2 recommendations were:


1) That the regularly scheduled Central Cariboo/City of Williams Lake Joint Committee meetings be temporarily suspended so that resources may be directed to solving the Williams Lake Rural Fringe Fire Protection issue as an immediate priority. Further, that if other time-sensitive issue(s) arise, a special Joint Committee meeting be scheduled to address the issue(s) in a timely manner. Further, that a letter be sent to the City of Williams Lake to inform them of this decision.

2) That due to the increase taxation demands on the rural tax payers from the City of Williams Lake, the Pool Feasibility Study process be temporarily suspended until the fire protection issue is resolved.


However, in a letter dated today to Williams Lake City Council, Cariboo RD Area 'F' Director Joan Sorley says on #1 -- the Jan 23rd Central Cariboo/City of WL Joint Committee meeting will remain cancelled and in addition the Directors' for Areas D, E, F will decline to partcipate in the Pool Task Force process until such time the full tax implications for the Rural Fringe Fire Protection issue are known
