Preliminary Results - South Cariboo Recreation Centre Expansion

Yesterday - the electors in portions of Cariboo Regional District Electoral Areas 'G', 'H', 'L' and in the District of 100 Mile House went to the polls to vote on the following question:

Are you in favour of the Cariboo Regional District adopting Bylaw 5130, which will authorize the borrowing of up to $10 million over 20 years to build an indoor field, hard court gymnasium and walking track at the South Cariboo Recreation Centre; and Bylaw 5129, which will increase the South Cariboo Recreation Service annual taxation limit to a maximum of the greater of $1,800,000 or $1.57/$1,000 of assessed value of land and improvements?

After the counting of the ballots from advanced and general voting days - the preliminary results are:

Yes - 583
No - 1,622

The final determination of the referendum for the South Cariboo Recreation Centre Expansion will be declared in the afternoon on Tuesday, June 12th

The above will also be reviewed at the meeting of the South Cariboo Joint Committee tomorrow at 12:30pm in the District of 100 Mile House Council Chambers
