Johnston Bridge

Council reviewed the Johnston Bridge report and the reports from McCall Engineering, outlining the structural condition of the bridge and providing repair options and life cycle cost analysis. Staff provided four repair options, with the recommendation that comprehensive repairs be undertaken. This includes, replacing the bearings, plates and light bracing and repairing the girders and girder coating. This option is anticipated to extend the life of the bridge 15 - 20 years.

Council approved the comprehensive repair option as the preferred fix to Johnston Bridge. The next step is for staff to bring back to council an updated project development cost estimate, including detailed engineering, preparation of development and bid documents, updated costing and project timeline.
