The City of Williams Lake has postponed its semi-annual Event Hosting Grant application intake for May, following the Provincial Health Officer's continuing directive to restrict public events during the COVID-19 pandemic. We anticipate re-opening this grant by late summer of 2021 and will continue to adapt our policies as provincial health orders change.
Event Hosting Grants provide stimulus and seed money to help local organizations host, develop, market, and administer new events in Williams Lake. However, current restrictions on public events throughout the province means there are limited opportunities to host events.
"Supporting local organizations during COVID-19 is one of our priorities," said Ian James, Director of Community Services. "The Event Hosting Grant is one of the ways we support our local organizations; however, we know it would be unfair to ask organizations to go through significant effort to submit a grant request and have the event cancelled should restrictions continue."
