Last night, the Williams Lake & Area Seniors' Advisory Council made a presentation to Williams Lake Council, who was meeting in a "Committee of the Whole".
They asked Council to form a Committee to formulate a plan for the re-development of Cariboo Lodge and while Council refused that request, they did instead ask City of WL Staff to complete a housing options report in time for the September 14th Committee of the Whole
Earlier today, Williams Lake Seniors' Advisory Council expressed its' opinion that it was very disappointed in Council Tuesday evening. In fact, George Atamanenko went so far as to suggest that Williams Lake Council was "secretive" on how it has handed the Cariboo Lodge file to date. You can see a local story on this topic here
I must say that this has been a series of "lost opportunities" to move forward on Cariboo Lodge by City of WL Mayor Kerry Cook and her Council. I wonder where the community could have been had we formed a Ad-Hoc Committee on Cariboo Lodge, consisting of seniors', a City Councillor & others, in early 2009......?
