Seniors' Issues & Local Government

Both the Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Hospital District & City of Williams Lake will be dealing with matters pertaining to seniors' issues this upcoming week

On Tuesday, Williams Lake Council, meeting in Committee of the Whole, will consider a report from the Acting Social Development Manager to form a Task Force to develop a plan for Cariboo Lodge.  See the report here.  It will be interesting to see how the Williams Lake and Area Seniors' Advisory Council responds to the forming of this Task Force as well as the call for "market" & "non-market" housing options at the Cariboo Lodge site

On Friday, the Cariboo-Chilcotin Regional Hospital District (CCRHD) Board will consider a request for funding from the Interior Health Authority (IHA).  IHA's request is for $1,894,499 to do a site assessment for the possible re-opening of Deni House.  See that report here.  It should be noted that CCRHD Staff have not indicated if the funds exist for the CCRHD to fund this project at 100%.  IHA notes the project can not proceed without full funding from the CCRHD Board.  It will be interesting to see what the CCRHD Board does with it.  Also - the CCRHD Board will be receiving a delegation consisting of Karen Bloemink, Regional Director of Residential Services, and Jackie Watson, Director of Planning/Capital Planning & Projects from Interior Health to provide an update on residential care
