Mid-Week News...

1) Quesnel Millionaires on selling block

Quesnel Cariboo Observer is reporting that Millionaires President Bob Sales, with a heavy sigh, has confimed the Millionaires Junior 'A' Hockey Club is for sale - see here

Editor's Note - the reasons given by Mr. Sales sound very familiar to why Williams Lake lost its' Junior 'A' Hockey Team, the Timberwolves.  Lack of sales, low fan support, etc.  It'll be interesting if this has any bearing on how the North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee moves forward on its' plan for the $30 million Multi-Centre

2) Home Destroyed on Moon Ave in Williams Lake

From the Rush:

There was a house fire in Williams Lake last night.

Williams Lake Fire Chief Randy Isfeld says the fire started around quarter after eight and says fire crews arrived on scene four minutes later.

He says with high winds the split level home was completely destroyed within twenty minutes.

Isfeld says two occupants were inside the home when the fire started but says they were able to escape in short order.

He says there were no injuries and says the home is insured. He estimates the damage at between $350,000 and $400,000. The cause is unknown at this time.

Isfeld says the investigation is ongoing

3) Budget Meetings - Williams Lake/100 Mile House

While true - this is Game #1 of the Canucks/Blackhawks hockey game playoffs tonight (Wed April 13th) - there are two Budget Meetings that taxpayers' should really take an interest in, as follows:

Dist of 100 Mile: Meeting starts at 7:00pm in 100 Mile Council Chambers (385 Birch Ave)
Williams Lake: Meeting starts at 7:00pm in WL Council Chambers (450 Mart St)

Don't like how your local government spends your money??  Come out all and tell your elected officials/staff how you feel and what should be done
