Muriel Wild attacks Councillor Elliot

In another letter to the editor - Quesnel resident (and former Quesnel City Staffer) Muriel Wild launches into another tirade, this time against Quesnel Councillor Scott Elliot.  Having read it myself - I don't share Ms. Wild's conclusion.  Councillor Elliot merely points out that he doesn't need to waste Quesnel City Staff time with FOI's as he can get the same information for free by doing the job he was elected to do

It is clear to me that Muriel Wild is setting herself up for a Quesnel Council bid in 2014.  It also clear that the supporters of Ms. Wild and Councillor Thapar do not intend to let up in their very personal criticisms at Quesnel Council between now and Oct 19th, 2014 (date of next election)

Muriel Wild's Letter to the Editor as follows:

How sad that after one year in office, Councillor Scott Elliot does appear to have learned much

In his year-end address, he proudly states that he has no reason to make FOI (Freedom of Information) requests as he attends every "In-Camera" meeting. I feel this remark is directed towards Councillor Sushil Thapar

This Council has stated an intention to be open and transparent to the taxpayers

I feel it has had probably a record number of in-camera meetings in 2012 to order to avoid doing so

What Elliot has failed to learn (or mention) is that by attending every In-Camera meeting, he is unable to share any information that comes from these meetings

By Thapar not attending, but instead making a FOI request, he is able to inform the public about matters which he (Thapar) believes they (general public) have a right to know (and clearly do if the information is able to be released through Freedom of Information)

I feel it is a great shame that more Quesnel City Councillors are not as open and transparent as Councillor Thapar is trying to be

It is even more of a shame that Councillor Elliot feels he has something to be proud of by his statement

So what's new Steve. What's the difference between Quesnel politics and squirrels? The size of the nuts involved is all.
