Joint Release of the City of Williams Lake/Cariboo Regional District:
The City of Williams Lake Council and the Cariboo Regional District Board of Directors have both endorsed a five-year renewal of a Central Cariboo Recreation and Leisure Services Facility Management Agreement. The agreement will see the City continue to manage the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex for the Regional District.
“The recreation complex has been well managed and operated by the City over the past term of the agreement and we’re glad to be continuing this effective, efficient arrangement,” said Cariboo Regional District Director, Joan Sorley. “Obviously, the facility is absolutely key to many recreation activities and programs for residents and by maintaining the current agreement; we will ensure that on-going improvements remain a focus for both the City and the Regional District.”
Under the renewal, compensation for the net operating costs of the facility will increase by 1.75 per cent in each of the five years, in order to keep up with inflationary costs.
“The renewal of the management agreement is a great example of partnership,” says Williams Lake Mayor Kerry Cook. “The City is proud to continue to manage the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex, which offers excellent services to the central Cariboo. This agreement provides stability for the City, Regional District, and taxpayers for the next five years.”
