We thought everything would go down smoothly, but we've been thrown some serious curve balls this spring that have forced us to make some changes to the Peel Out format this year. But not to worry - the fifth annual is going to be awesome!
The biggest change will be to the Peel Out downhill. As many of you have read, the lower portion and finish area of the the traditional Peel Out DH course lies on a section of private land. The landowners interests have changed such that we will not be able to hold the race on the same course. This prompted some serious head scratching, as we could not find another course that would allow racers from the ages of 4 to 70 to race. So, we've come up with something else.
We've been running this race for five years and we know who the fastest racers are. Its time to take this to the next level. This year we will be holding the Outlaw Invitational DH. We've examined the top finishers from a selection of categories over the past four years of racing. These top finishers will be invited to participate in the Outlaw Invitational. We've posted a list of these racers who are eligible to register in the race this year. The race will be limited to 50 racers, so it will be first to register - first in. In addition, we will hold 10 wildcard spots that will be selected through a community voting process than will be announced in the coming weeks.
The course will be kept secret until a few days before the race, but it will be steep, gnarly and more like a world cup track. All the race details will be announced on the Peel Out event site (click here). The start of the couse, time of the race and other details have all changed, so be sure to read carfully.
The Super Enduro and Boitanio Bike park events are unchanged. Both of these events will run on Sunday as planned and scheduled. For racers that have registered in the DH to date, we will be cancelling all DH registrations and will send you an e-mail to confirm. Please check the invitational list on the Outlaw DH page to see if you are listed, and re-register.
We're sorry for this change, but circumstances were beyond our control. We understand we've excluded some of the younger riders from the races this year, but have tried to make the Boitanio Bike Park event bigger to accommodate everyone. This years Bike Park event on Sunday will host the annual BBQ, a pump track challenge, a dirt jump contest and flow track race to keep everyone stoked. Stay turned for more details!
