Last October - the BC RCMP and the BC Ministry of Transportation had a 'public disagreement' over the definition of 'Winter Tires' in BC - view that here
Now - the RCMP and ICBC (Insurance Corp of BC) have aired their disagreement over Chinese drivers' licenses in public. Richmond RCMP are relying on a court interpretation regarding the validity of these international drivers' licenses while ICBC says Chinese drivers' licenses are perfectly valid in BC as per the Motor Vehicle Act - read a story on this from today's Province here
As I've said on my personal Facebook page -- it is not good from a public relations perspective to see inter-government agencies battle each other in public. Rather these organizations (RCMP, Ministry of Transportation/Infrastructure (MOTI) and ICBC) simply must find a way to resolve their interpretation differences in private. If not - the public will be confused as to who is right on public safety matters -- RCMP or MOTI/ICBC?
