he City of Williams Lake Public Works Division and those who work in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services will be acknowledged during National Public Works Week, May 20-26, 2018. Activities and programs scheduled for the week will celebrate the contributions of public works professionals as well as the communities they serve. The objective is to increase public awareness of their contributions as well as to enlighten the public about the duties, practices, and goals of public works professionals.
Public works professionals include those who manage water, sewer, public transportation, and refuse removal systems as well as those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds and streets. They are, in short, the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety and comfort.
To celebrate National Public Works Week, the City of Williams Lake Public Works Yard will be hosting an open house at the City of Williams Lake Public Works Yard, located at 555 2nd Avenue North on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
The Open House will include an interactive equipment rodeo, showcasing some of the equipment the department uses in daily operations. Bring the kids for a turn in the loader and backhoe, as well as ride in our bucket truck. Along with more displays and information booths, we will also provide riding tours of our Works Yard and a children’s planting station where they can plant a flower to take home with them.
Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
