Johnston Bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic on October 3 until further notice

Courtesy of the City of Quesnel:

As of 9:00 am, Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Johnson Bridge will be closed to all vehicle traffic until further notice.
From a recent bridge inspection, the City was made aware that areas of the bridge structure are compromised. As a safety precaution, the City has made the decision to close the Johnston Bridge to all vehicle traffic at 9:00 am on Wednesday, October 3. The bridge will continue to be open to pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
Industrial traffic must detour through Red Bluff via Plywood Rd and Maple Dr. Industrial traffic will not be allowed to detour through Johnston Subdivision. Signage will be posted directing traffic.
The City has hired McCall Engineering to assess the structure of the bridge and determine what vehicle loads are able to safely use the bridge. Baker Creek Bridge and Moffat Bridge were noted to be in good condition.
More information will be available next week and will be posted through the City’s regular news channels.
