Simpson: We need collaborative elected officials

Yesterday - re-elected Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson wrote in the Quesnel Cariboo Observer (Black Press newspaper) appealing to City of Quesnel voters and those in Cariboo Regional District (CRD) Electoral Areas A/B and requesting that they consider electing Quesnel City Councillors and CRD Directors for Electoral Areas A and B that will work collaboratively for the betterment of the Region

This is a message that could be repeated throughout the Region...

To wit:

We particularly need (Quesnel) council members and (Cariboo) regional district representatives who will continue to work collaboratively to tackle our common challenges and take full advantage of opportunities as they arise. We cannot afford to go back to the days of division and acrimony that characterized the relationship between the Cariboo Regional District and the City under previous administrations.
This is a message I generally can agree with but I've not always seen practiced in this past term and agree with Mayor Simpson that we need to get behind this ideal...

CRD Area C Director John Massier, Area D Director Steve Forseth, Area G Director Al Richmond, Area H Director Margo Wagner and Area I Director Jim Glassford were also acclaimed into their respective positions back on September 24th as were School District #27 Zone 1 Trustee Linda Martens and Zone 3 Trustee Willow Macdonald

There are advanced votes on Monday, Oct 15th (CRD Areas A, B, E, F, J, K, L); Oct 17th (City of WL/Quesnel and SD27 Zones 2 and 5) and then general voting day from Oct 20th from 8am - 8pm through the Region
