First responders will pay a third tribute to frontline healthcare workers this Saturday, April 25, with another parade of lights and sirens.
Starting at 7 p.m. a convoy of more than 40 vehicles will leave the Williams Lake Fire Station, travel along Highway 20 into town, and begin the salute to frontline workers at Cariboo Place. The parade will then wend its way to Cariboo Memorial Hospital, make two loops, and end by honouring workers at the Williams Lake Seniors Village on Western Avenue.
"We feel it’s important to continue to honour our frontline healthcare workers and show them we appreciate their efforts, not just during the COVID-19 pandemic but every day," said Deputy Fire Chief Rob Warnock. "We noticed our first salute meant a lot to people and we need to continue that show of solidarity. We’re all in this together."
The convoy includes first responders from the Central Cariboo Search & Rescue, Emergency Health Services, Williams Lake RCMP, BC Sheriffs, BC Conservation Officer Service, Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement, Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department, 150 Mile Volunteer Fire Department and the Williams Lake Indian Band.
Residents are encouraged to join in the salute by making noise, holding up signs and cheering as the convoy passes through – preferably from balconies, patios, lawns or parked cars in order to observe the appropriate physical distancing requirements.
