Residents are reminded to avoid the areas of Panorama Ridge
and Dragon Hill Road until further notice due to the potential risk of
landslide. As a result of the land movement, these areas have become
potentially hazardous, which includes the use of the trail systems in both
locations. The City of Quesnel is asking residents to not use or visit the
trails located around Panorama Ridge. Bryce trail as well as the mountain
biking trails located south of the Quesnel and District Recreation Centre are
still available for use, however the adjoining “back-trails” located through
the downgrade/hillside of Dragon Hill Road and Panorama Ridge are considered
unsafe at this time and should not be used. Please ensure to follow all
posted signage and directions in the area. A team of specialists are currently evaluating areas of
potential movement and will continue their investigations throughout the
coming days. Residents are reminded to be vigilant and stay away from areas
with land slippage as well as areas that may be experiencing high water
levels and fast flowing water along river banks, and areas that show signs of
erosion as they may be unstable and dangerous. If you are witness to any land movement please call City Hall at
250-992-2111, or the Director Emergency Services, Sylvain Gauthier at
250-991-9738. The City is working closely with Emergency Management BC to
monitor the situation and will provide updates when available. For full details please visit quesnel.ca/our-community/news-notices/risk-landslide-select-locations-quesnel |
