November 19th, 2021 BC #COVID-19 Pandemic Update

As of Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, 90.8% (4,209,651) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 87.0% (4,034,962) have received their second dose.

In addition, 91.2% (3,945,908) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose and 87.6% (3,789,140) have received their second dose.

B.C. is reporting 497 new cases of COVID-19, including four epi-linked cases, for a total of 214,636 cases in the province.

There are 3,420 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 208,702 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 358 individuals are in hospital and 109 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

The new/active cases include:

  • 138 new cases in Fraser Health
    • Total active cases: 1,244
  • 64 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
    • Total active cases: 511
  • 146 new cases in Interior Health
    • Total active cases: 657
  • 78 new cases in Northern Health
    • Total active cases: 498
  • 71 new cases in Island Health
    • Total active cases: 454
  • no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
    • Total active cases: 56

In the past 24 hours, three new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,293.

The new deaths include:

  • Fraser Health: one
  • Vancouver Coastal Health: one
  • Northern Health: one

There has been one new health-care facility outbreak at Laurier Manor (Northern Health). The outbreak at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village (Fraser Health) has been declared over, for a total of 21 facilities with ongoing outbreaks, including:

  • long-term care:
    • Queens Park Care Centre, Tabor Home, Cascade Gardens, Maplewood House, George Derby Centre, Dufferin Care Centre (Fraser Health);
    • Amica Edgemont (Vancouver Coastal Health);
    • Village by the Station, Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre, Sun Pointe Village (Interior Health);
    • Peace Villa (Northern Health); and
    • Chartwell Malaspina Care Residence (Island Health).
  • acute care:
    • Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Burnaby Hospital, Ridge Meadows Hospital (Fraser Health);
    • Royal Inland Hospital (Interior Health); and
    • Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Island Health)
  • assisted or independent living:
    • Harrison Pointe, The Cedars, Revera Parkwood Manor (Fraser Health); and
    • Laurier Manor (Northern Health)

From Nov. 11-17, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 59.5% of cases.
From Nov. 4-17, they accounted for 70.4% of hospitalizations.

Past week cases (Nov. 11-17) – Total 2,853

  • Not vaccinated: 1,564 (54.8%)
  • Partially vaccinated: 135 (4.7%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 1,154 (40.4%)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Nov. 4-17) – Total 325

  • Not vaccinated: 200 (61.5%)
  • Partially vaccinated: 29 (8.9%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 96 (29.5%)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 11-17)    

  • Not vaccinated: 203.3
  • Partially vaccinated: 57.8
  • Fully vaccinated: 26.2

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Nov. 4-17)

  • Not vaccinated: 41.7
  • Partially vaccinated: 18.6
  • Fully vaccinated: 2.1

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 8,509,185 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
