Allocations from BC's Civil Forfeiture Crime Prevention and Remediation Grant program were announced today.

For those in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Region:
1) Quesnel
a) North Cariboo Metis Society -- $24,730 for Healthy Relationships: This project is designed for both male and female clients, teaching them life strategies that can be used to help create change in relationships that are abusive
2) Williams Lake
a) Canadian Mental Health Association‐ Cariboo Chilcotin
Branch -- $30,000 for Become the Change: This project is a psycho‐educational group program for participants 18 years and older, who are at low‐to‐moderate risk of perpetrating or have perpetrated domestic violence against their intimate partners
b) Canadian Mental Health Association‐ Cariboo Chilcotin
Branch -- $30,000 for It Matters: This project is a preventative intervention program designed to reduce the vulnerability of at‐risk youths by addressing human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and related gender‐based violence. In partnership with School District 27 and local Indigenous leadership, education will be provided to Gr. 7‐12 students, to identify human trafficking and exploitation risks
c) Yeqox Nilin Justice Society -- $39,954 for Restorative Justice through Traditional Practices: This project will provide a safe, secure environment in which to help primarily First Nations youth at risk and young offenders to find a better path for life by providing a cultural and spiritual context through
which to learn life skills, academic and vocational training.
