6:00 p.m. Public Hearing - Proposed Bylaws #1912 and #1913
Pursuant to s.464 o the Local Government Act, Council held a Public Hearing for proposed amendments to the following Bylaws:
City of Quesnel Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 1912 of 2021 [A bylaw to amend the City of Quesnel Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1879 of 2019]
City of Quesnel Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1913 of 2021 [A bylaw to amend the City of Quesnel Zoning Bylaw No. 1880 of 2019]
Proposed amendments to the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaws to allow the conversion of a two-level commercial complex to a three-level apartment at 668 Doherty Drive, legally described as LOT F DISTRICT LOT 704 CARIBOO DISTRICT PLAN 5008.
Public Safety & Policing - Advocating Judicial Reform
The City of Quesnel Public Safety & Policing Committee (PSPC), comprised of Mayor Simpson, Councillors Roodenburg & Vik and Staff, met Attorney General and Minister responsible for Housing Eby, Minister of Public Safety & Solicitor General Farnworth and their respective Deputies.
They discussed inequities in the judicial system affecting Quesnel and many municipalities province wide, including prolific offenders, length of sentence and wait time.
Statement of Financial Information 2021
Council approved the 2021 City of Quesnel Statement of Financial Information and:
- SOFI Schedule B: Council and Employee Remuneration – 2021
- SOFI Schedule C: Goods and Services equal to and over $25,000 – 2021
- SOFI Schedule D: Severance Payments 2021
The Statement of Financial Information is required on a yearly basis as per the Financial Information Act. The Community Charter also requires a yearly report on council remuneration and benefits.
Fire Hall Renovation Project
Due to the City's success in attaining $2.5 million (50%) in grant funding, this project reflects good value for tax dollars.
Fire Smart Awareness Month - May
Forestry Initiatives is highlighting awareness and importance of FireSmart-ing homes and properties to help property owners reduce the risk of wildfire damage.
With regular yard maintenance and larger-scale changes during renovations or landscaping, residents can make choices that will help protect their homes from wildfire.
Information can be found at the Arts and Recreation Centre, Quesnel Farmer’s Market, the Quesnel Outdoor Tradeshow and through a door-to-door campaign in Southhills.
