Cariboo RD Board Highlights - April 29th, 2022 Meeting

2021 Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital Board and Cariboo Regional District Audited Statements

PMT Chartered Professional Accountants presented both 2021 financials for the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Hospital Board and the Cariboo Regional District. They did not identify any deficiencies that, in their judgment, would be considered significant deficiencies in internal controls, significant financial statement disclosures, accounting estimates, accounting practices, no uncorrected misstatements or controversial accounting policies.

Housing Needs Presentation for South Cariboo

Calibrate Assessments Ltd. presented highlights from a South Cariboo housing needs assessment on behalf of both the CRD and Municipality of 100 Mile House. B.C. legislative requirements that took effect April 16, 2019, require local governments to collect data, analyze trends and present reports that describe current and predicted housing needs in B.C.  Through analysis of Canadian Census data, real estate statistics, local data, key informants, public meetings and an online survey the final report presented showcased challenges and potential recommendations for the area.

Community Grants Approved

The following grants for assistance applications were approved and allocated from Area funds:

Area D

  • Wildwood Community and Recreation Association- $500 for an Open House at the Wildwood Fire Hall
  • Tyee Lake Community Association- $1,000 for their annual general meeting and fundraiser

Area B Grant for Assistance

  • The North Cariboo Seniors’ Council- $1,000 for their seniors’ meal program

Northern Development Initiative Trust Support

The Cariboo Regional District supplied a letter of support for the NDIT application put forward by the District of Wells. The project’s aim is to improve the supply of power to Wells and Barkerville for residents and businesses along the Highway 26 corridor. This initiative if it moves forward would ensure efficient, reliable power and WIFI which is important for development and for communities to become more sustainable and resilient.

North Cariboo Joint Advisory Committee Highlights

CRD staff is moving forward the public engagement and consultation for the proposed renovation of the Arts and Recreation Centre jointly with the City of Quesnel this May and June with a final report due back in September on results. There will be three open houses announced soon in various locations in the Cariboo Regional District and City of Quesnel.

South Cariboo Joint Committee Highlights

The South Cariboo Recreation Fees and Charges bylaw with respect to the Recreation Pass policy and the    two-tiered rate system for residents and non-residents was received.  The recommendation that upon renewal of the bylaw, the non-resident rate for drop-in activities, other than public skating, be set at a 100 percent premium to the resident rate, and that this rate also be applied to all activity programs requiring pre-registration, such as various gym sports and youth camp was endorsed.
