Executive Director Mighton and Director Byrd attended Council to share the valuable work they are doing in the community, in partnership with Second Harvest and many local organizations, as a food recovery network for those in need and to reduce the environmental impact of avoidable food waste. Johnston Bridge
Due to unprecedented inflation, the updated cost for repairs to the Johnston Bridge is upwards of $8,000,000. Council approved application for a grant for $6,000,000 to the Capital Infrastructure Stream of the Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) through the Canada Community Building Fund in British Columbia; $400,000 from the Capital Reinvestment Reserve to begin detailed design, engineering, and tender preparation in anticipation of successful receipt of the grant application; and if the grant is successful, remaining funding will come from the Utility Reserve Funds and the Capital Reinvestment Reserve.
The current five-year capital plan will need to be adjusted to make room for the required funding for this project, which may include delaying other projects and increasing funding to this reserve.
