From the City of Williams Lake - But 1 question I have is how City Hall intends to host this on the same night that the Central Cariboo Joint Committee meeting is taking place. Is the Joint Committee meeting cancelled. Hopefully, they'll make that announcement soon
Emergency Social Services volunteers are invited to an appreciation reception Wednesday, Nov. 17, at City Hall, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mayor Kerry Cook, Cariboo Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, and other dignitaries will thank the volunteers for their hard work during the 2010 wildfires in the region.
Following the reception, ESS Training Specialist Bob Kennedy of the Provincial Emergency Program will chair a debriefing for the volunteers from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
About 250 volunteers assisted hundreds of residents evacuated to Williams Lake as a result of the fires this summer.
