In a strange twist, Nanaimo City Council may be forced to refer a conflict-of-interest case to the BC Supreme Court after it was discovered that a Nanaimo City Councillor potentially had a conflict-of-interest in a DVP approval. The DVP was approved in a 5-4 vote, but the alleged conflict-of-interest was discovered after the fact. If Council does not refer the conflict-of-interest case to the BC Supreme Court, the Community Charter allows 10 voters' to do the same
