The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Board has adopted a bylaw to establish an 'Arts/Culture Grant Service' after a counter-petition process showed that 42 voters in the local service area objected to the local Regional Board adopting the service establishment bylaw. 1,592 voters would have needed to register objection to prevent the CVRD Board from adopting the service establishment bylaw
The CVRD now joins multiple regional districts in BC including the Cariboo Regional District who currently provides local taxpayer support for the local arts/culture sector
