An organization called the "Frontier Centre for Public Policy" (website here) has published its' annual ranking of the 100 Canadian cities for financial reporting and transparency. Measures in the study include timeliness of audit opinion, receipt of accounting award, additional commentary and statistics, capital assets reported, capital assets depreciated/funded, goods/contracted services separate, depreciation recorded, expenditure line items defined, and historical trend statistics given
While none of the municipalities in the Cariboo-Chilcotin made the list, some of the bigger cities/regional districts that surround us did (Total of 33 points awarded):
Kamloops - Ranked 26 of 33
Prince George - Ranked 23 of 33
Kelowna - Ranked 31 of 33
