While Xeni Gwet'in (Nemiah Valley) Chief (and Cariboo RD Area J Director) Roger William doesn't object to the 'pro' New Prosperity group in Ottawa this week, TNG (Chilcotin National Gov't) Tribal Chief Joe Alphonse does object and suggested that the pro-New Prosperity group's claim that their trip is at their cost is misleading saying:
"it’s easy to hide expenses like that"
And he also didn't mince words about the 'pro-New Prosperity' group's activities in Ottawa this week by stating:
“They’re a bunch of slow learners this group. I don’t know what it will take. Maybe it’s a change of culture in the community, we want better relations, better working situations, and safer communities. It starts with attitude, recognition and respect for one another and what this group is doing has definitely shown a strong disrespect towards First Nations people and I’m ashamed to be a part of that"View the full story here

So now anyone with a different opinion than the local First Nations group is disrespectful towards them??!! Give me a break Alphonse. This is the most hypocritical, ridiculous, offensive and small minded comment I've ever heard! You should be ashamed! People are entitled to their personal opinions and if you do not agree that is your right... but to pull the race card out and wave it around is a joke. This comment is a giant step backwards for your people and I'm embarrased by your comments and by you.
