Electoral Boundaries Commission wants to hear from you!

VICTORIA – The ninth independent and non-partisan British Columbia Electoral Boundaries Commission wants your input on the area, boundaries and names of provincial electoral districts to be used for the next two provincial general elections.

“Now is the time to have your say and shape your province,” states Commission Chair Justice Tom Melnick. “This democratic process is a unique opportunity for British Columbians to provide their views about how their communities are represented geographically in the Legislative Assembly.”

Beginning on Monday, September 22, the commission is holding public hearings in 29 communities throughout B.C. to hear views and receive presentations and submissions. This input will inform the commission’s Preliminary Report to the Legislative Assembly which they are mandated to submit before May 9, 2015. Views, submissions and presentations may also be made through an online submission form on the commission website (www.bc-ebc.ca), by email to info@bc-ebc.ca or by mail to PO Box 9275 Stn Prov Govt, Victoria, BC, V8W 9J6. All submissions must be received by the commission by Sunday, November 16, 2014.

Following the publication of the Preliminary Report, British Columbians will have the opportunity to provide input and views on the proposed provincial electoral district areas, boundaries, and names.
