City of WL SOFI report....Interesting to note that even though the City lost a BC Human Rights decision filed by former Director of Finance Candie Laporte in 2011, and were forced to increase their FEMALE managers to be on par with their male counterparts, clearly, gender bias is STILL an ongoing issue. Male managers had HUGE increases from 2016 to 2017: from a low of 13.39% to 22.64%. Female managers, on the other hand, ranged from 0 to 8.67% increases. City Council should remember that women make up more than half the electorate. And what happened to the $4 million in savings over 5 years that Cobb touted by eliminating positions in January 2015 (4 union, 4 managers)? Year over year, salaries have gone no where but UP from 7,388,246 in 2015 to 8,111,204 in 2017 according to their annual SOFI reports.
City of Williams Lake SOFI report shows that it increased wages for senior male managers in 2017 between 11.58-22.64% over 2016. Female managers were increased substantially less, between 0-8.67%. This discrepancy despite a BC Human Rights complaint from a former female manager that women managers were paid significantly less than their male counterparts which forced the city to increase their wages in 2011, referring to it as "benchmarking" at the time in local media. And where is the 4 million in savings over 5 years touted by Mayor Cobb, promised in 2014 when they eliminated 8 positions, 4 managers and 4 unionized staff? SOFI report shows an increase of almost 10% in salaries between 2015 and 2017.
