Special WL City Council Highlights of Dec 18th mtg

Present: Mayor W. Cobb; Councillors Boehm (via teleconference), Bonnell, Brenner and Nelson

Procedural Motion:

Resolved -- That members of the public are not permitted to physically attend the December 18, 2020 Special Council meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the December 2nd Gathering and Events Public Health Officer Order. As per Ministerial Order No. M192 from the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and, for the purposes of Division 3 of Part 4 of the Community Charter, the meeting is not to be considered closed to the public and will be livestreamed on the City’s YouTube Channel to ensure openness and transparency.

Business:

1) Temporary Homeless Shelter Proposal

A report from the Senior Bylaw Officer was presented to Council
Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved -- Council agreed to provide a letter of support for the Situation Table Stakeholders proposal to establish a temporary homeless shelter within the Hamilton Hotel until March 31, 2021, subject to it meeting all legal requirements and safety regulations and that Council contribute $10,000 in funding from the City's COVID-19 Safe Restart Funds to support the project and a letter of appreciation be forwarded to the Situation Table Stakeholders

2) NDIT Grant Application - Northern Housing Incentive Program

A report from the Economic Development Officer was presented to Council
Discussion ensued thereon...

Resolved -- Council authorized submission of an application to Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) for $40,000 toward a 4-unit market housing build under the Northern Housing Incentive Program

Council agreed to adjourn at 12:09pm
