The Directors of the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society are pleased to announce that Melissa Normandin has accepted the position of Executive Director for the Society, effective September 14th 2021.

Arriving in the Cariboo in 2016 via the prairies, Melissa has a long career of executive administrative experience in government and post-secondary settings. She has enjoyed working and volunteering with various community groups in Williams Lake. “I am excited to work with the Board of Directors, the community and carry forward the work of the strong foundation built by Leah” said Ms. Normandin.

Melissa enjoys gardening, novice beekeeping and duties as a shepherdess. Currently, she is a ballet student with Dance in Common in Williams Lake and enjoys time in the outdoors. She has been a member of the Cariboo Potters’ Guild and appreciates her role as a Board member with the Station House Gallery.

Melissa is extremely enthusiastic about embarking on this new journey and role as Executive Director with such a long-standing organization and is looking forward to the engagement and gratification of working in the arts community in the Central Cariboo.

In announcing the appointment, Board Chair Harry Jennings said, “We are thrilled to be bringing Melissa Normandin onto our CCACS team as the new Executive Director. She brings years of experience managing in the non-profit arena and will be a very worthy addition as Leah Selk, our long-serving Executive Director since the inception of the CCACS, explores other challenges and opportunities in the arts community within the Central Cariboo and beyond. Best of luck Leah, thanks for all the GREAT work, and a hearty welcome to Melissa!"

Outgoing Executive Director Leah Selk is excited to pass the reigns on to Melissa after 10.5 years in the position as the first employee of the organization. “I am incredibly grateful to the many Directors over the years for all of their support of my work, and for my coworker Emily Clearwater. I am confident that Melissa will carry the organization forward with enthusiasm and will continue the work to a high degree of professionalism,” said Ms. Selk.
