Central Cariboo Rural Caucus Highlights - Sept 22nd mtg

Present: Chair M. LeBourdais and Directors S. Forseth, A. Delainey (via MS Teams) and G. Kirby (via MS Teams)

Meeting called to order at 3:00pm

The Chair recognized that the meeting was taking place on traditional Northern Secwépemc (Shuswap) territory (Areas D,E,F) and on Tsilhoqot'in Territory (Area J) 

Meeting Agenda adopted, as amended (Late Discussion Item from Dir. Forseth -- Consideration of Strategy Planning Dinner with WL City Council and CRD Areas D,E,F Directors)

Minutes of the Rural Caucus Meeting held June 23rd, 2021 were received/adopted

Delegation: 

New WL RCMP Detachment Commander/Insp. Myron Friesen appeared before the Caucus to introduce himself to the Central Cariboo Rural Directors' 

A Question/Answer period ensued

The Chair thanked Inspector Friesen for his time/information 

Business:

1) Horsefly Visitor Information Centre Roof Repair Emergency Contribution

A report from the Regional Economic Development Officer was presented to the Caucus - click here
Discussion ensued thereon.... 

Resolved - That Caucus recommend to the Regional Board

That the agenda item summary from Beth Holden, Regional Economic & Community Development Officer, dated September 15, 2021, regarding a one-time $5,000 contribution to the Horsefly Board of Trade to contribute to the $15,060 roof repair at the Visitor Information Centre, be received. Further, that the $5,000 contribution from the Central Cariboo Economic Development budget be approved

2) Discussion Items:

a) Central Cariboo Economic Development Business Plan
b) Future Delegations at Caucus in 2021 - Society providing overdose therapy/prevention

c) Williams Lake Rural Fringe Contracted Fire Protection Service/Closure of Dog Creek Road (City of Williams Lake Portion)

d) Strategic Planning Dinner between WL City Council and Cariboo RD Areas D,E,F Directors' (refer to future Central Cariboo Joint Committee meeting)
