The City of Williams Lake’s Emergency Operations Center is continuing its emergency response to land slippage in the vicinity of Frizzi Road and Mackenzie Avenue North.
On September 28, 2021, the City placed the Green Acres Mobile Home Park on evacuation alert, prior to issuing an evacuation order for six properties in the park the next day following a geotechnical evaluation of the area.
Emergency Support Services staff continue to work with evacuated park residents to ensure their needs are being met, while the City awaits further results from a more extensive geotechnical assessment of the slide area.
The City has worked to remediate damage to infrastructure in the interim after further slippage on October 3, 2021 caused a break to one of the exposed sanitary sewer mains. Affected residents are asked to continue to minimize water use until further notice.
The City of Williams Lake continues to monitor the situation from its Emergency Operations Centre and will provide updates as they are available.
