Smoke from pile burning will be visible in 108 Mile Area

Courtesy of the BC Wildfire Service:

BC Wildfire Service will be burning 150 small brush piles on the west side of Highway 97 from the north end of the 108 Mile Airport to the 108 Mile House Heritage Site. The purpose of the pile burning is to remove fuels that were created from clearing brush along the highway in order to provide better visibility of wildlife.

Smoke will be visible from 108 Mile House and nearby areas. Traffic control will be on site to ensure it remains safe for passing motorists.

Burning is expected to begin Wednesday, October 6, 2021 and will continue periodically until October 15, 2021. It will occur only on days when site and weather conditions are favourable and will allow smoke to dissipate. BC Wildfire Service personnel will be on site while the burning is being conducted.
