City of WL CAO takes Legal Action

WILLIAMS LAKE’S CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER IS PLANNING LEGAL ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THE ALLEGATIONS OF THE FORMER CITY OF WILLIAMS LAKE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE, CANDIE LAPORTE.

BRIAN CARRUTHERS MADE THE COMMENTS AT CITY HALL TONIGHT (TUESDAY, MARCH 8TH) AND SAID HE’D BE TAKING LEGAL RECOURSE AS AN INDIVIDUAL, AND SAID IT WAS AGAINST LAPORTE AND ANY OTHER PARTY THAT HAS PARTICIPATED IN , OR CONTRIBUTED TO WHAT HE CALLED A DELIBERATE, INTENTIONAL AND ORCHESTRATED CAMPAIGN TO DISCREDIT HIS PERSONAL CHARACTER AND PROFESSIONAL REPUTATION.

CARRUTHERS TOLD COUNCIL THE CLAIMS OF CANDIE LAPORTE TO BE FALSE. IN PARTICULAR HER CLAIMS THAT FIRE HALL COST OVERRUNS TOTALLED OVER $800,000 AND HER ALLEGATIONS HE UNILATERALLY APPROVED EXPENSE AND PAYROLL CHANGES.

HIS RECOMMENDATION THAT THE CITY REVIEW ALL FINANCIAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES IN A BID TO IMPROVE OVER-ALL TRANSPARENCY WAS UNANIMOUSLY PASSED BY WILLIAMS LAKE COUNCIL.
