The BC Supreme Court has ordered that a Councillor's seat in Harrison Hot Springs be declared vacant as one Councillor was an on-call fire-fighter and that is seen as a part time position of Harrison Hot Springs and local election law says you can not be an municipal employee and sit on the local municipal council
The closest candidate to the last civic election in Harrison Hot Springs want the Court to appoint him to Council in Harrison Hot Springs but the Court has chosen to order a By-Election
This situation nearly came to fruition here when, in 2008, then Cariboo Regional District Area 'D' Director-candidate Blair Engel (Wildwood firefighter) refused to resign from his post, if elected but at the end of the day, voters in the 2008 local general election for CRD Area 'D' chose to elect Deb Bischoff instead
