After three weeks collecting entries from the North Cariboo Multi-Centre Colouring Contest, Bernice Heinzelman, Chair of the Local Fundraising Sub Committee, is thrilled to announce the winners of the Colouring Contest. Entering the contest involved drawing or colouring a picture of an activity that the student would like to see or do in a theatre or arena and the entries showed just how creative the students could be.
The $50 first-place prize was donated by the Quesnel & District Community Arts Council and Shirley Smith handed out the prizes to True Beaulieu (5-7 year old category), Bailey Panchishin (8-10 year old category) and Cara Mighton (11-13 year old category).
Leisure Services donated a 10-pass swim certificate for the second-place winners and Eric Wickham, Chair of the Fundraising Committee presented these to Chloe Doerksen (5-7), Elizabeth Riley (8-10) and Caprice Keine-Doepker (11-13).
Kristen Brown-Hill (5-7), Cyra Klotz (8-10) and Taylor Waters (11-13) were all provided with their third-place prize of a gift package offered by Booster Juice from Ildiko Newman, a member of the fundraising committee.
“We were extremely pleased with the number of entries,” reported Heinzelman. “With more than 100 entries overall the judges had a difficult time choosing the top three winners in each age category. We were delighted with the effort that so many of the entries put into their pictures.”
As part of the corporate and local community communications package, the Fundraising Committee will use the winning entries on items such as postcards, powerpoint presentations, posters and advertising.
The North Cariboo Multi-Centre will be a modern facility designed to replace aging infrastructure. It features a 1,600-seat NHL-sized arena, a 450-seat performing arts theatre and accompanying event and assembly space.
