The City of Williams Lake expects to re-open the Sam Ketcham Pool with the regularly scheduled length swim at 5:30 a.m on Friday, March 23.
A liquid chlorine injection system is now in place to disinfect the pool water, and approvals have been given from regulating authorities. Facility maintenance staff will be trained on the system this week and lifeguards will participate in some training as well. All chlorine gas has been removed from the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.
Work on a long-term solution for the pool continues. A mechanical engineering firm is working on an analysis of systems and will provide a report outlining options, costs, and a recommendation on which option to use. This report is not expected before April. Costs for the new system have yet to be finalized.
Registration is available for Tuesday and Thursday swim lessons which start on March 27 and Saturday lessons that begin, April 21. In addition the Spring and Summer Guide to Active Living will be inserted into the Tribune’s Weekender on March 23 and is posted at www.activewilliamslake.com.
