This past Saturday -- voters' in Cariboo-North and Cariboo-Chilcotin went to the polls to elect a new MLA/Member of the Legislative Assembly. With all polling stations reporting in -- the full preliminary results are as follows:
Cariboo-North: (elected in bold)
1) Coralee Oakes (BC Liberals - incumbent): 4,503 votes (or 49.41% of all votes cast)
2) Scott Elliot (BC NDP): 2,972 votes (or 32.61% of all votes cast)
3) Kyle Townsend (BC Conservatives): 1,052 votes (or 11.54% of all votes cast)
4) Douglas Gook (BC Greens): 586 votes (or 6.43% of all votes cast)
Total votes cast in Cariboo North: 9,113 and there were 2,051 mail in ballots issued for this provincial electoral district. Final count begins on Friday, November 6th and is expected to conclude by Monday, November 16th when the official writ of election is returned to BC's Chief Election Officer (unless the final count takes longer, due to many mail in ballots/absentee ballots having to be counted, etc).
Cariboo-Chilcotin: (elected in bold)
1) Lorne Doerkson (BC Liberals): 5,262 votes (or 52.18% of all votes cast)
2) Scott Andrews (BC NDP): 3,168 votes (or 31.42% of all votes cast)
3) David Laing (BC Greens): 1,035 votes (or 10.26% of all votes cast)
4) Katya Potekhina (Ind.): 392 votes (or 3.89% of all votes cast)
5) James Buckley (BC Libertian): 227 votes (or 2.25% of all votes cast)
Total votes cast in Cariboo-Chilcotin: 10,084 and there were 3,121 mail in ballots issued for this provincial electoral district. Final count begins on Friday, November 6th and is expected to conclude by Monday, November 16th when the official writ of election is returned to BC's Chief Election Officer (unless the final count takes longer, due to many mail in ballots/absentee ballots having to be counted, etc).
