On October 17, 2020, the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex will implement a mandatory mask policy for all patrons visiting the arenas from Friday through Sunday.
This new procedure was implemented as a COVID-19 precaution to ensure the safety of all visitors, players and staff. All visitors, players, coaches and volunteers that visit the arenas from Friday through Sunday will be required to wear a mask correctly at all times. During scheduled practices or games, all players, coaches and staff actively participating in the sport/event are permitted to remove their mask for the duration of their sport/event.
“Hockey is an important staple of Williams Lake and the surrounding area. We are glad to be able to offer hockey to our community when so many other communities are unable to during this difficult time,” said Ian James, Director of Community Services. “As we welcome teams and visitors from out of town, the responsible thing is to increase our safety standards to protect our community. Furthermore, as we progress through our hockey season, we have noticed a dramatic increase in spectators, and with the increased number of people, we had to take extended measures to protect all our patrons.”
Along with the mandatory mask policy, the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex has also enforced a maximum capacity for each arena seating section and field of play.
• RINK 1
o Field of Play (Ice Surface) – 50 people
o Seating Area – 50 spectators
• RINK 2
o Field of Play (Ice Surface) – 50 people
o Standing Area – 20 people
The Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex further asks that all the facility users enter and exit the facility through the arena main entrance only, and do not access the arenas through the aquatics lobby. All patrons are also asked to leave the facility as soon as the scheduled event is completed. No congregating in the arena lobby will be allowed.
