Minutes of the City Council meeting held on January 25th, 2022 was received/adopted
Presentation:
Mayor Cobb presented the "Accessibility Award of Merit" to the Scout Island Nature Centre
Delegation:
Andrew Sandberg, Rotary Club of the Williams Lake
Daybreak appeared before Council to discuss Endorsement of Climbing Wall Project in the City of Williams Lake.
A Question/Answer period ensued
Mayor Cobb thanked Mr. Sandberg for his time/information
Resolved: That the presentation from Andrew Sandberg,
Rotary Club of the Williams Lake Daybreak regarding their
fundraising proposal for a youth climbing wall to be installed in a
municipal park be received and Council endorse the project in
principle and direct staff to report back to Council once a suitable
location has been determined, in partnership with the Daybreak
Rotary, as well as recommendations for in-kind contributions from
the City toward this project, and to work with the Daybreak Rotary
in seeking grant opportunities to support the project.
Business:
1) Council received for information the accounts payable computer cheque
and EFT listings dated January 26 and 27, 2022
2) After receiving no public input -- Council agreed to approve DVP #04-2021 for property at 517 Sixth
Avenue North (Cariboo Memorial Hospital)
3) Council approved an
application to the February 11, 2022 intake of the NDIT Marketing
Initiative Grant program for 50% of a budget of $20,000 which will
be used for the creation of a series of short promotional videos that
highlight different aspects of Williams Lake
4) Council gave early budget
approval for the purchase of a new lawnmower and a new tractor
with a combined budget of $100,000
5) At the request of Girl Guides of
Canada BC Council - Council directed Staff to display blue lights on the exterior of City Hall on
February 22, 2022 in support of "Thinking Day" for girl
empowerment in BC
6) Council received a letter from the Cariboo Regional District regarding the nomination period for
appointments of Cariboo Regional District representatives to the NCLGA
Executive Board for the 2022-2023 term prior to March 1st, 2022 with the Cariboo Regional District Board deciding its' NCLGA Regional Representative/Alternate at its' March 18th, 2022 meeting
7) Council received the minutes of the Central Cariboo Joint Committee held on January 26th, 2022
8) Council proclaimed March 2022 as "Epilepsy Awareness Month" and March 26th, 2022 as "Purple Day" in the City of Williams Lake
9) Council reported the following In-Camera Resolution from its' Special In-Camera Meeting held on January 18th, 2022:
That City of Williams Lake Policy No. 184 be waived and the subject property owners be offered a
reimbursement of up to $1,000 to cover the deductible expenses related to the sewer spill
at 1641 Signal Point Road
10) Late Item - Council received for information a report of the Chief Financial Officer regarding an outline of the 2022 COVID
Hardship grants awarded as part of Council's third intake stream
from the City of Williams Lake's COVID-19 Safe Restart Grant
11) Council received the "Council Information Package" as of February 8th, 2022
Mayor Cobb provided a verbal report as to the COVID-19 Pandemic
Members of Council and the CAO provided verbal reports on their recent activities
Council agreed to adjourn at 6:35pm
