1st Public Consultation Meeting - Regulating Shipping Containers

Last night - Brad McRae (Senior Bylaw Officer) & Geoff Goodall (General Manager of Planning & Ops) held a polite, progressive and thoughtful discussion with 4 members of the public on how to regulate shipping containers in the City of Williams Lake - both for residential and commercial areas.

Some concerns expressed included how to have a efficient and workable permitting system for shipping containers for residential areas.  According to Mssrs Goodall/McRae - a huge number of local governments are seriously looking at this issue including:

* Kelowna
* Hope
* Cariboo Regional District

Another public meeting on this meeting will be held on Thursday, May 19th from 7-9pm in WL Council Chambers

I've asked for a copy of the PowerPoint Presentation from Mr. McRae and if he is able to give a copy of it to me, I'll update this blog post here with it.

But the issue of regulating shipping containers is serious from the aesthetic point of view for residential areas and I applaud the City for attempting to start a conversation with the community on this subject and find a solution that works for the majority of our community members
