State of Emergency in CRD Electoral Area 'B' - Cottonwood River

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has declared a local State of Emergency in Electoral Area B due to rapidly rising waters and erosion of some properties on the Cottonwood River. As a result, the CRD has activated a level two Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).

The area affected is in and around the Quesnel/Hixon and Landry Road area. Two properties within the area are under evacuation order while the remaining properties in the area are now under evacuation alert. Further information will be available as the situation develops.

Residents are reminded to use extreme caution at this time of year near or around waterways as a result of elevated water levels and rapid currents.

For all inquiries, contact the Cariboo Regional District EOC at 250-398-5117 or, visit the CRD website at www.cariboord.bc.ca
