Kerry Cook staunchly defends registration fees for False Alarm Bylaw

After last night's WL Council Meeting, WL Mayor Kerry Cook took a few minutes to staunchly explain the reason for the registration fees for the new False Alarm Bylaw

Out at events this week - people like the registration aspect but absolutely hate the fee that goes along with it.  In fact - some have suggested that this issue will sway their vote

For the record - I disagree completely with the registration fee but the registration aspect I agree with so the City can get information on how to reduce or eliminate the false alarms that the City faces - both for Police/Fire

So if you disagreed with the cost did you attend all the hearings and voice that?

Thanks for your comment...

Yes I did the meetings and I did express my disagreement with the registration fee but like in life - sometimes you don't get everything you want...

Steve attends more city/CRD meetings than most elected officials.
Good luck with your bid for council Steve!

Speaking of votes, you're losing bad in your own poll.

While Steve may be losing, again, i must point out that the poll is somewhat skewed as:

1. only people that know about the website will cast a vote;
2. people either read this site because they love or hate his view.

So, its not that emperically valid as it does not take into account certain variables. The only way that will be truly tested is in the voting booth.

While i completely disagree with most of what he has to say, i wish him good luck nonetheless.

Apehanger.

Well said Apehanger. The comments made that personally attack Steve are unecessary and disconcerting.
I too do not agree with a lot of what Steve says and often question his delivery but he has always been a strong advocate for discussing issues.
I am proud of how no matter how rude some bloggers here can be against him he still posts their comments even though they are at his expense. Good for you Steve and good luck with the election and all future endeavors.
