* Finally - Council is set to adopt the 2012-2016 5 Yr Financial Plan Guidelines which calls for 2-3% tax hikes in all years from 2012-2016, which Council agreed to as part of a 4 point prioritization list while developing the 2012-2016 5 Yr Financial Plan Guidelines for the City on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011. Food for Thought - that would mean (assuming a property tax hike of 3% in all years from 2012-2016) that the City will have seen consecutive residential property tax hikes of 27% over a seven (7) year period from 2009-2016 . Is this a sustainable practice?. Methinks not....
