BC Ombudsperson in Williams Lake - Seniors' Care Reports

Yesterday, Kim Carter (BC's Ombudsperson) was in Williams Lake to review her recent reports on Seniors' Care which you can read online here (Part 1) and here (Part 2)

The Rush covers the story here as does Welcome to Williams Lake here

The meeting had 3 parts:

a) Introduction by Bob Simpson, MLA for Cariboo-North
b) Presentation of Seniors' Care Reports by Kim Carter and Bruce Clarke
c) Question and Answer period - moderated by Bob Simpson, MLA for Cariboo-North

Finally - I was the only "young person" at yesterday's Seniors' Forum and as I tweeted to Bob Simpson yesterday, he should be thanked for arranging these forums, both in Quesnel and Williams Lake and I tip my hat to him.  My own disappointment would be that while Cariboo Regional District Directors' Joan Sorley (Area 'F') and Byron Kemp (Area 'E') were in attendance and they should be thanked for making the effort, I didn't see any member of Williams Lake City Council in attendance, I find that 'unfortunate' given the rapid rise of seniors' in our local demographics and the fact the issues raised by Ms. Carter, unless addressed, will become bigger problems in the future.

In fact, the recommendations' in Ms. Carter's reports are 'common sense' in my opinion and there is no reasonable reason why the government could not reasonable move forward with them in the short/medium and long term
