Earlier this week - North Cariboo Multi-centre Fundraising Committee Chair Eric Wickham handed in his resignation. No official reason has been given
For his part - CRD Area 'C' Director John Massier expressed his support for the project and strongly feels that there continues to be very strong local/provincial political will for the North Cariboo Multi-Centre but the federal partnership for this project is missing...
With just over a year and a half to go before the local taxpayer committment of $15 million for this project expiring (expires in November of 2013) - Mr. Wickham's resignation is not good news and I feel strongly that you are not likely to see any committment on Ottawa's part because if they gave money to Quesnel, then they would be, in a moral sense, obligated to put money towards future renovations for the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex upgrades (in whatever form that takes locally), but watch for North Cariboo politicians (CRD/City of Quesnel) to continue to armtwist local MP Dick Harris into delivering $$$ for the North Cariboo Multi-Centre all the way up to November of 2013 to make the project a reality...

Sorry to see Eric go....his heart is totally in the right place, and his story seems to be credible.
