Union contract negotiations start Tuesday

Tomorrow, the International Union of Operating Engineers and the City of Williams Lake sits down to negotiate a new collective agreement.  The current agreement expires at the end of June.

While the last contract was a 5 year agreement seeing raises of 15% over that time period signed in 2007 under the Council of former Mayor Scott Nelson, I expect that the next collective agreement between the City of Williams Lake and IUOE will be a 3 year contract calling for raises between 0-3%, similar to what CUPE workers' received in the City of Quesnel.  CUPE's actual collective agreement calls for raises of 0% in Year 1, 1.5% in Year 2 and 2% in Year 3.  CUPE's contract runs from June of 2010 to June of 2013
