According to Quesnel Mayor Mary Sjostrom, a 1% tax shift away from Industry means a 6% tax hike on residential properties while Quesnel Mayoral Candidate Bob Simpson says it's time to "rebalance" the property tax system

The debate shows the challenge that many local governments are going through -- how to balance concerns from Industry over property taxation vs residential property owners (particularly seniors) who say that they can not afford any more property tax hikes
