A reminder that off-road vehicle use is currently BANNED in the Cariboo, Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres.  More details here.  An Area Restriction Order banning access to the back country for ALL Crown Land was issued on Friday, August 11th by the Cariboo Fire Centre until September 5th or sooner, if conditions allow.  Full details here

Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb issued a message to his community last night, as follows:

We'll it seams we have passed the critical point as far as the city goes. Not so for our friends out west. This past weekend was hell for many. Some evacuation orders have been lifted and some initiated. Will this nightmare never end.
Other than the heavy smoke all was quiet today. No new fires as of today that I am aware of. Some are still growing and it appears some are moving around and burning up what they missed last time around.
There are some not so easy decisions to make in the next couple of days. What to do, how to try to get back to normal if there is such a thing these days. So much depend on mother nature and she is not letting us know what's next.
So another safe day cooler nights and no wind warnings.

Finally - friendly reminder to continue to rely ONLY on official sources for Evacuation Alerts or Orders from your local government website or Facebook page or through the local media - Tribune (click here) or Vista Radio (click here).
